Divine Proportion

This is also known as the Golden Ratio. It is a grid theory created from the irrational number Phi

Phi is a mathematical pattern observed in nature by the classical philosopher Pythagoras and his followers. Since they found it in nature they equated it as being of divine design (hence the name Divine Proportion).

Divine proportion is organic, universal, harmonic and aesthetically pleasing. By using this formal you can improve the communication of your design dramatically.

In order to come up with the divine numbers you can divide a page's length by Phi (or round it to 1.62) then subtract that number by the length to get the dimension of the other column as seen above.
