Rule of Thirds

It is a simplified version of the Golden Ratio, but in grid form. You can divide your page into a 3X3 grid or bigger.

This is used to make designs more interesting and pleasing to the viewer. It is a theory that their eyes will be drawn to where the main grid lines intersect, so it is recommended that this where the most important content should be located.

Here we can see that the bulk of the information takes up 2/3rd of the page and still have many different layout options
